Wind Power Generation Scheduling Accuracy in Europe: An Overview of ENTSO-E Countries

Despite the rapid spread of use wind energy to generate electricity, harnessing this source remains a great challenge due its stochastic nature. One way dealing with is prepare accurate power forecasts. This paper explored accuracy day-ahead and intraday scheduling generation onshore offshore farms member countries European Network Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) in period from 2013 2021. The precision activities showed varying picture: Germany, Spain, France, Sweden produced more precise forecasts than others, annual downward upward regulatory needs between 0.8% 14.4%, 6.5%, yearly generation, respectively. In certain countries, however, were less accurate, discrepancies exceeding 41% for 132% regulation. As farms, ranged 0.9% 61.7%, 1.3% 44.1%, respectively, Germany Denmark producing most schedules. innovative novelty practical contributions study are that it determines presents information related forecasting ENTSO-E which relevance transmission system operators (TSOs), main actors market decision-makers, too. may also help investors who invest economic aspects, greatly contribute market-related development management systems storage solutions these technologies.
